AI Settings & Limits
Which features use AI, the switches that turn it off for an organization, a workspace or yourself, and what you see when it's off.
What Uses AI
- The assistant, including the question bar in the visualization editor and cover slides.
- Datasource summaries: Generate summary on a datasource's page. The same page's AI prompt, notes you write about the data (column meanings, business rules) that the assistant reads whenever it writes SQL for that datasource, shows only while AI is on.
Everything else works without AI: browsing tables and writing SQL in the editor, building charts and slide decks by hand, sharing, presenting and exporting.
Turning AI Off
AI is on only where every switch that applies is on: turning it off for the organization turns it off in all its workspaces, whatever their own setting says. An organization whose trial or subscription has ended pauses AI too.
When AI Is Off
If you turned AI off for yourself, the assistant is hidden. If it's off for the organization or workspace, the assistant's bar says AI is off here, and its panel explains why, with a link to turn it back on for people who can. The datasource buttons that use AI are hidden.
Usage and Allowances
AI usage in My profile shows what you've spent this week and this month, by feature, and your allowance if you have one. Allowances come from your organization's plan; when one is used up, the assistant tells you when it resets.
